A garden design can work wonders in your garden. Even if you’re not ready to get creating all at once, you will have a plan! You’ll know what’s possible and, even if you’re moving, it’s like passing planning permission on to the new owners. “This,” you can say, “is how the garden could be!”
Sitting outside is so lovely and the furniture you choose can make the garden look wonderful too. It is difficult to appreciate what a difference the right furniture can make, especially as it feels that choice is so limited. We wouldn’t dream of putting four white plastic chairs in the sitting room, but it’s commonplace in the garden.
I visit the loveliest homes, yet the gardens seem to have nothing whatsoever to do with the house. Sometimes, the house is quite contemporary, but the garden would fit perfectly with some post-war semi.
If your house is beautifully furnished and immaculate inside, perhaps it’s time to think about the garden.
A design will create a completely new space of your garden. It will show the best places to sit and eat, and exactly what materials could be used to build and create that space. It will wrap around your new dining area with the most beautiful plants or shrubs and light up your garden for the summer evenings.
Rebuilding your garden doesn’t come cheap. If you’ve got a big garden, it’s no good thinking that £6,000 will get you anything that makes much of an impact. If you are lucky enough – and you ARE really lucky – to own a big garden, it can be absolutely amazing.
We’ve had such a wonderful summer; have you thought about a swimming pool? If you ever come to sell your house, a wonderful garden will make a huge impact. Someone will look around your house, then come to a window and say, “Ohhh! Look at the garden!”
I have known people buy a house just for the garden, especially in our part of the world. A beautiful garden can add around 12 per cent to the value of your home (these are the figures quoted by an estate agent in Brighton).
You may look out of the window and see a sad, tired, August-browned garden with straggling borders and too much lawn. A whirligig washing line is probably covered up neatly with a green sleeve.
Just think – you could look out of the window and see something wonderful. How would that feel?

We'd love to design your garden this year. Why not find out what's really possible. Just look out of your window and imagine what you could see"
